In this exhibition both Bronwyn McMillin and Seb Evans depart from their traditional ways of working to create small scale paintings, drawings and sculptures of everyday objects and arrangements. Rather than representation, it is the form, colour, and composition of these objects that will take precedent in this exhibition. These works are a reflection on time, specifically addressing the distortion in the experience of time between rural and urban life. The artists’ experience of rural life allows for a deeper exploration of the everyday objects and routines which in other cases pass by without careful observation or documentation.
The impetus for this project comes from the lived experience of both artists, who have recently moved to a rural community. This shift in lifestyle has led to a deep reflection on time and it’s elasticity and changeability in their lives. The choice to create small works requires a careful selection of the subject that is supported by the newfound space in their daily routines. As such, these works are a reflection of the artists’ expanding imaginative world that has been incubated by isolation.
Open weekends 12-3 until August 23rd, 2020
